The following list is composed of descriptions of the objectives studied in advanced 8 and the applications that are used for these projects.

Programming:

MicroWorlds 2.0 Logo Programming is an application used to teach programming and problem solving and logical thinking skills to practice. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the basics of programming by creating and debugging a video game.

HTML Programming - Students will use a basic text editor and the study of HTML code to create a web site. Web sites will include the use of tables and images, and various types of links.

Graphics - Students use Paintshop Pro 7 to create buttons and animations to include in their web sites.

Word Processing and Desktop Publishing - Students create a variety of documents incorporating outlining, tables, kerning , leading , and integration on spreadsheets and/or database files.

Spreadsheets - Students create several spreadsheets to demonstrate knowledge of IF...Then statements. Students also integrate their web search skills to create a functional spreadsheet to track the spending of their "virtual shopping spree".

Telecommunications/ Legal and Ethical Issues - Students review the technique of Boolean logic for use when conducting searches on the Internet and proper documentation rules to avoid copyright infringements. They also become aware of information literacy issues that can interfere with the validity of research.

Databases - Students review and practice designing and creating a multipurpose database and learn to perform calculations with in a database by creating and analyzing queries.

Multimedia - Students create a multimedia production including the use of animation, timing, and the insertion of a video clip of themselves introducing the presentation.

Basic Operational Skills - Students are tested on their knowledge of the basic operational skills. Review of necessary information takes place before re-evaluation at a Technology SOL site.
