Arts-related subjects have a positve impact on every area of study in school. Participation in orchestra gives students a better understanding in all academic studies. The Landstown Orchestra classes follow the curriculum of the VBCPS description provided below.

ORCHESTRA 6 (MU 9235)

In these courses, attention is focused on introductory music fundamentals, technical achievement, and acquisition of performance and rehearsal skills through exposure to a variety of literature.


ORCHESTRA 7 (MU 9251)

This course is a continuation of the technical training started in the beginning class. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of skills necessary to meet high standards of music performance. The student is exposed to a wide variety of band and orchestral literature.


ORCHESTRA 8 (MU 9241)

In this yearlong course, students are acquainted with the great heritage of symphonic literature and are given the opportunity to develop high standards of general musicianship. Emphasis is placed on artistic performance commensurate with the maturation level and experience of the group. Performances are an important part of the group activities. After-school rehearsals and performances may be required of students. The director's approval is required.

Fall Fundraiser

Solo and Ensemble Festival- The 7th and 8th graders will be performing in ensembles at the after school competition.

Winter concert/assembly- 6th, 7th, 8th grade orchestras and Select Strings will perform for parents and friends.
