Go to the Landstown Middle School hompage at http://www.landstownms.vbschools.com.    Click on the Sharepoint logo at the top right of the page.

		A popup window will appear requesting login information. In the User name: box type:      vbstudents\123456 but use your student number in place of the 123456.      * * * Users can also use the format                   123456@vbstudents.com In the Password: box type your password. NOTE: If a box asks for the Domain, type VBSCHOOLS

	The Landstown Middle School Sharepoint Site will open. (The URL is http://studentportal.vbschools.com/sites/MLN).   To access your student or teacher page, click on the My Site link near the top right of the page.
	Your personal Sharepoint site will now open.

BROWSERS.  Sharepoint works best with Internet Explorer. If you use another browser, you may experience difficulties.

AOL USERS.  Sharepoint works best with Internet Explorer. If you use AOL, you may experience difficulties. To access Sharepoint, open AOL they way you normally login. The minimize AOL and open Internet Explorer. Use the Internet Explorer as your web browser and you should have no problems.

MICROSOFT VISTA & OFFICE 2007 USERS.  Our version of Sharepoint has difficulty working with MS Vista and Office 2007.  Until the system is upgraded, you may need to follow this procedure in order to save your work on Sharepoint. Open the document. Save your work to your computer with a new name.  (When saving, select Office 2003 compatible files types). Virginia Beach City Public Schools uses Office 2003 exclusively. Open Sharepoint. Upload the document with the new name.  (If you are trying to upload the document from a Vista or Office 2007 computer and the document has the same name as a file already stored on Sharepoint, it may not save.

LOGIN ERRORS.  Make sure that you are using the correct slash with the login. When using the format vbschools\123456 the back slash should be used ( \ ).

MICROSOFT WORKS USERS.  Virginia Beach City Public Schools uses MS Office 2003 exclusively. We do not have MS Works. If you use MS Works to work on a document, save the document in .rtf format so that it will be accessible at school.

FILE OPEN ERRORS.  Our school has many programs such as Inspiration, Timeliner, Mapmaker, etc. that most students will not have at home. These files will not open since you do not have those programs.

TRUSTED SITES.  To add the Sharepoint site to your "trusted sites" in Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" and then select "Internet Options..."  Click on the "Security" tab.  Click on "Trusted Sites" and then click on the "Sites..." button.  Cut and paste https://studentportal.vbschools.com into the "Add this Web site to the zone:" box and then click the "Add" button.  Then click "OK" twice to close the open dialog boxes.
